A Little Off The Beaten Path

Okay, so this is not a scrapbooking post, but I saw a movie this weekend and I must comment on it. For one, it is so similar to another movie I saw recently and for two, it was just great!

I saw Wall*E this past Friday and I loved it. However, I don't really recommend it for children that are too young simply because it there is no talking in the first 30 mins. Therefore if you your child is still to young to understand gestures and sound instead of actual verbal communication, they will be bored to tears. Although, these days even older kids have problems communicating without verbal communications so be your own child's judge.

Anywho this is a description of Wall*E:

In a futuristic world, human beings have destroyed Earth and evacuated the planet, leaving the cleanup to an army of robots they've programmed to do their dirty work. Due to a mishap, the dutiful WALL-E is the only one left. But with the arrival of a female probe named EVE, the monotony of WALL-E's existence is broken -- and he experiences love for the first time. Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo) directs this Pixar tale with a sci-fi twist. Here is the review from the Los Angeles Times.

The other movie I have seen is Idiocracy. It is so eerily like this Disney movie its well.....eerie! lol It is nearly the same thing, just an adult version. I think its rated PG-13. Maybe even R. Below is a description of it too.

Description of Idiocracy:

To test its top secret Human Hibernation Project, the Pentagon picks the most average Americans it can find -- an Army private (Luke Wilson) and a prostitute (Maya Rudolph) -- and sends them to the year 2505 after a series of freak events. But when they arrive, they find a civilization so dumbed-down that they're the smartest people around. Mike Judge and Etan Cohen ("Beavis and Butthead") re-teamed for this futuristic farce. Here is a review by the Los Angeles Times.

I recommend them both! It is so realistic of how this world is going. Basically "hell in a hand basket". Its eye opening (both of them) and they are also both hilarious. I think you should watch Idiocracy and then watch Wall*E with your children. Its a good conversation piece and a real eye opener for how the world is beginning to lean!
